World Lutherans told members must interpret their Scriptures

ALC/ENI, LUND, Suecia, March 26, 2007

Lutheran churches need to encourage their members to interpret the Scriptures using established principles, based Taxi Heathrow Airport on the life and teaching of Jesus, Church of Sweden Archbishop Anders Wejryd has told Lutherans from all over the world. He preached before about 1000 Christians gathered on 25 March in the historic Lund Cathedral, whose construction is believed to have begun around 1103.

They were commemorating the founding of the 66.7 million strong Lutheran World Federation in the same Swedish city in 1947. "A true interpretation of the Bible does not only bring people to understand the rules and contents of the Bible but it brings them to Jesus," Wejryd said in his sermon. He noted that while Jesus had shed light on the Scriptures, it was up to the members of the communion to interpret them, "looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of our faith."
