Young Christians know more of MTV than the Bible, says Kobia

ALC/ENI, India, February 14, 2007

The Church hardly communicates with the youth of today and even in "so-called Christian countries" Taxi Heathrow Airport the majority of young people are Bible illiterate but well informed of the latest MTV programmes, says the head of the World Council of Churches.

The Rev. Samuel Kobia, general secretary of the WCC, addressed 200 young people in the south of India. "We are well aware that the younger people are the target of the media," said Kobia. "Unless something drastic is done now the Church will lose a whole generation of leadership."
