Washington does not know how to lose charges CESE
Edelberto Behs, SALVADOR, Brasil, March 19, 2003
The Ecumenical Service Coordinator (CESE) appealed on all people and groups of good will to Taxi Heathrow Airport continue with peaceful manifestations to demand an end to the "war armed to subjugate people who do not obediently follow the mandate of the northern empire."
CESE defends the right of humanity to live in peace and charged that Washington does not want this because it does not know how, to lose.
The "Clamor to impede imminent war," the title of a manifest signed by the Executive Director of CESE, Eliana Rolemberg, denounced the United States because it does not respect "the laws, treaties, pacts or international institutions."
The document affirms that the United States aims, with the war to "impede at all cost, the imminent fall of its economy." It explained that the OPEC has begun to use the Euro as its main currency.
If "oil-Euros" substitute "oil-dollars" for the first time since the Second World War the dollar will no longer be the strong currency. "World control is at stake. A dangerous game," said CESE.
With the war, the United States - the empire, not the people - said the document, clearly demonstrate the fragile nature of international bodies such as the United Nations. The "Goliath" of the North wants to submit Iraq and increase its control over the Middle East in order to control oil and impede the rise of the European currency," said CESE.
The war will cause intense, irreparable damage to life and the planet. It will also affect the situation of the already badly hit population of Iraq and will widen the abyss between people from different cultures and creeds along with religious differences and the violent intolerance between Christians, Muslims and Jewish people will grow worse, according to the document.
For this reason, CESE believes it is necessary to "silence the discourse of intolerance" by sowing peace and solidarity. Wars can be avoided added the document which denounced the industry of death. In the United States alone, around US$300bn is spent a year on weapons and military affairs.
The CESE called for the end of unilateralist positions in international relations and called for respect for the self-determination of all peoples.
